Privacy Policy

Continued Strike is an independent, player-run project - not a company, and this isn't a formal legal document written by a lawyer. It's a plain explanation of what we actually collect and why, because you should be able to know that before signing in.

What we collect

Signing in uses Steam's own sign-in system (OpenID). We never see or store your Steam password - Steam only ever hands us your Steam ID, display name, and profile picture. That's it for account creation.

Once you're signed in and whitelisted, using the site adds a small amount of your own data to our database: your friends list and friend requests, chat messages you send to friends, and the self-reported profile fields you fill in yourself (country, age, favorite map, play style). Your match history, ELO, and skin inventory are read from the same database the desktop app already uses - we don't collect anything new there, we just display it.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't have any advertisers. We don't see or store your Steam password at any point - that's handled entirely by Steam.

Donations and payments

If you choose to donate, the card payment is handled by Square. Your card number is entered into Square's own secure form and never touches our servers - we never see or store it. Square is a separate company with its own privacy policy, and acts as the payment processor for these transactions.

What we do keep is a record of the donation itself: your Steam ID, the amount, the currency, the date, and whether the payment succeeded, was refunded, or was disputed. For a monthly donation we also keep the subscription's status and your card's brand and last four digits (so you can recognise it on the Donations page), and the email address you give us is passed to Square so it can send you a receipt each month. We keep these records because we have to be able to account for money we've received, and to handle refunds or disputes.

When a donation goes through, a thank-you message may be posted in our Discord server. You can choose on the Donations page whether it shows your name and whether it shows the amount - or make it fully anonymous.

You can cancel a monthly donation at any time from the Donations page. Nothing is refunded automatically; you keep the month you've already paid for and no further charges are made.

Cookies

We set one session cookie to keep you signed in. It doesn't track you across other sites, and it's not used for advertising.

Getting your data removed

Message us on Discord and we'll delete your profile fields and chat messages on request. Friends-list data is shared with the desktop app, so removing it there removes it here too. Donation records are the one thing we can't fully erase on request - we're required to keep a record of payments received - but we can remove your name from any Discord thank-you message and stop any active monthly donation.
